Application Process and Required Items

Information

During your week at Dixie Band Camp, you will have a variety of rehearsals, classes, and fun activities. The repertoire is carefully selected to meet the needs of both individual students and the full group. Our goal is to create an environment where students of all skill levels can gain a sense of accomplishment and enriching experience through music performance. Features of this program include:

  • Daily rehearsals, full band and sectionals.

  • Develop a deeper understanding of your instrument through electives and rehearsals.

  • Participate in a elective classes of your choice.

The week-long session culminates with a public performance. Parents and Families are encouraged to attend the final concert in the beautiful Reynolds Performance Hall on the campus of University of Central Arkansas

Eligibility

Any student who has completed grades 9-12 and has at least one complete year of instrument training is eligible to attend Dixie Band Camp.

Enrollment

Dixie Band Camp selects enrollment based on when application is received. There are only 600 spots for enrollment for our Sr. High week. Admission to Dixie Band Camp is not guaranteed.

Faculty

Dixie Band Camp uses outstanding junior high, high school and collegiate level teachers and educators at Dixie Band Camp, ensuring your student gets a highly rewarding and educational experience.

Housing

Students are housed in secure and comfortable air conditioned dormitory housing that is close to all activities for the week. Dixie Band camp is not responsible for any lost personal items.

Application Process

Students must fill out completely the Dixie Band Camp Application with a minimum down-payment of $200 and send to :

Applications must be postmarked by May 2, 2019 for camper to receive a camp t-shirt for free when they arrive at camp.

Application postmarked after May 2, 2019 will be assessed a $25 late fee and your student will not receive a camp shirt.

All-State Discount

Students who are Arkansas All-State Band Members are awarded a Scholarship of $280 for on campus students and $120 for off campus students. Please send your $80 payment along with application.

Audition Information

Once students arrive to Dixie Band Camp they will have to complete an audition to be placed in a band.

Senior High Students will audition on scales, the following exercises and sightreading to for their placement audition when they arrive to camp.

Jazz Band Elective is by audition only. Student who wish to participate in the Jazz Band will be required to perform a improvised solo with the Dixie Blues in Bb.

Registration

Senior Camp Registration will occur Sunday, June 2 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm. Registration will take place at The Farris Center located on Bruce St. on the campus of The University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. You will not need to bring in your luggage to registration. Once you have completed registration you will receive your room assignment and you will proceed to your dorm and unload all luggage and dorm items there.
